What is Easy Read?
Easy Read is an accessible way of presenting information so that it is easier to understand.
It combines clear language, short sentences, supportive images and carefully structured layouts to communicate information without unnecessary complexity.
Easy Read was developed particularly for people with learning disabilities, but accessible information can also benefit people who find standard written information difficult to understand.
Most importantly, Easy Read isn't simply about making the words bigger or adding pictures to an existing document.
The information itself needs to be considered, simplified and structured so that the important messages are easy to identify and understand.

Do I need to rewrite my document before sending it?
No. You can send your existing document and we can discuss the level of Easy Read adaptation required.
If you’ve already prepared Easy Read text internally, I can also provide design-only support.
Can you follow our organisation's branding?
Yes. Your logo, colours and appropriate elements of your existing visual identity can be incorporated into the design.
Easy Read accessibility will always take priority where a particular brand element isn’t appropriate for accessible communication.
What kinds of documents can you produce?

Yes. Print-ready artwork can be supplied if you’re having your Easy Read materials professionally printed.
Can you help if we regularly need Easy Read documents?
Yes. One-off projects are welcome, but ongoing design support is also available for organisations producing Easy Read materials throughout the year.
This can provide greater visual consistency and means you have a designer who is already familiar with your organisation and its requirements.

Send over the document or information you’d like converted into Easy Read to hello@kallowaycreative.co.uk. Word documents and PDFs are ideal, but don’t worry if your project isn’t quite at that stage yet. You can still get in touch to discuss what you’re planning. If you have a publication deadline, let me know when you enquire.
I’ll get back in touch within 1-2 working days to set up a 30 minute call to chat with you about your requirements. This is a no-obligation call to allow us to get to know each other before proceeding.
After the call and upon reviewing your document and requirements, I’ll provide a clear quote and proposed timescale based upon content, its complexity and your requirements.
Production
I’ll work through the information, simplify and structure the content where required, select appropriate supporting imagery and create the Easy Read design.
Your branding can be incorporated while keeping accessibility at the centre of the document.
Review
When complete, I’ll send a copy to you for review, with plenty of time for you to review and request revisions. Two rounds of revisions are guaranteed with your project, so you will have plenty of opportunity to fine-tune your document.
Publish
Once the revisions have been made, all that’s left for me to do is finalise your files, exporting these ready for print and online use – plus an invoice for any remaining payment, if applicable.
