My design process

Stage 1 - Initial consultation

After you submit your enquiry, I’ll be in touch to arrange a phone call or email to discuss your design project in depth. During this stage, it’s a good opportunity for us to get to know one another and also allows me to get an insight into your business and your requirements! You can also use this time to ask me any questions too.

After our call I’ll follow up by sending a copy of my contract, an invoice for your 50% deposit and confirmation of a project start date.

Stage 2 – Client questionnaire

I’ll begin by adding you to a shared Pinterest board so you can start pinning some inspiration and ideas together. You’ll also receive a copy of my client questionnaire – this will help me find out about your business, its products and services and your design preferences.

If we’re designing a website or design material requiring text, images and/or other content – then I’ll also ask for you to start collating this together, ready to share in the next stage.

Stage 3 – Colours, fonts and mood boards

From analysing your client questionnaire and shared Pinterest board, I’ll create a mood board with colour scheme choices, fonts, imagery and beginning concepts for your design project.

This stage will allow us to confirm the colour scheme and font direction and give us a benchmark throughout the project.

Stage 4 – Design time

We’ll work up a couple of  concepts, using the results from your questionnaire and mood board. This will allow you decide the ‘feel’ of your logo, flyer or other design material.

Once you’ve chosen a concept for us to take to finalisation, I will apply up to three rounds of revision until you’re happy with the design. You will be asked to feedback on the design and any edits you would like to be completed. Please note, requests for extra rounds of revisions will be charged at a rate of £25 per hour.

Stage 5 – Final design and file delivery

Once your design project’s final draft is completed, I’ll send you a PDF copy (or link to preview the website for web projects).

At this stage, it’s important you carefully proofread any copy and content to ensure accuracy.

Once you have given approval of the design, I will invoice you for the remaining 50% of your project. No final files will be sent (or website will go live) until payment of this invoice in full.

Once payment has been received, I will send all final files over to you.

Stage 6 - Aftercare and support

Once the design process is over, that doesn’t have to be the end of our working relationship! I’ll always be on hand to assist, advise and guide you in how best to use your graphic materials, branding or website.

If I have created a website for you, I have a range of maintenance packages available to assist you in additions and updates to your site every month.

If you need printing company recommendations, then please get in touch and I would be happy to suggest options to suit your print budget.
